Bukuru Rugwizangoga

What is your name, where are you from, what do you do?

I am Bukuru R. And I am from Lowell Massachusetts. I am a youth mentor and model and I also MC and host events and brand owner of the 4th quarter brand and the neighborhood hope dealer.

How has being part of the community impacted your personal growth?

It took a village to raise me so it’s beautiful when I’m able to give back  & There is no better feeling than seeing everyone in the community come together and unite all in one, Because we’re all one.

How has being part of the community impacted your personal growth?

If I could give all my time to the youth I really would, a lot of people have lost hope in the next generation, but it’s on us to help them & prepare them for the future. I’m a staple for kids who look jus like me and I am here to provide hope by leading by example and showing them that you can be and do anything that their heart truly desires.

Do you feel like you found your career purpose?

I’m still figuring it out, but I’d say yes, because there is no better feeling that helping people, the reason I want more is so I can give more.

How do you make sure you are looking out for others and spreading the right messages?

Everything starts within in, and knowing that us humans are all one in the same, I do the inner work on myself and because I can’t help anyone if I can’t help myself.  And the person I am today is who I needed when I was younger, so I am now doing my very best to be that for others.

How can someone get involved in being a member of the community? what does it take to be a community figure?

Everything starts from within, look into yourself and see what you feel like is missing in your community and bring it to life, and just simply just being a big brother or big sister to the youth in your community, or being a good neighbor to those around you because we’re all one as community.

Is being an entrepenuer meant for everyone? How can people start their own thing and why is it important to do something different?

It’s definitely not meant for everyone, but everyone can for sure be one. And wether it’s a brand or a company that you want to start, you have to sit with yourself and ask yourself what is it that you feel is missing in the world or what it is it that you want to add on to the world, once you have that answer you can start working on bringing that vision to life, that will separate you from every who are just starting things just because it’s a trend, because you’ll be doing it with purpose and passion

What would you tell your younger self and why?

I’d tell my younger self to always listen to understand & not respond. Because I don’t know it all and nobody knows it all, but we all know something, so if I listen I can always learn something new. I’ve learned that the best teacher in life is your own experience, but what’s my experience if I can learn and capitalize off of someone else’s experience, that saves me more time and I won’t have to endure all the troubles of having to go through anything, because I capitalized off their mistakes.

I’d also tell my younger self to be more present in everything that I do and go through, because the only way is through and there is beauty in the struggle I just gotta stay true to myself & I’ll always come out better then what I went through.

Who do you look up to in boston and why?

Kash Cannon and her humanitarian acts as she gives her time to all of our communities and works with our youth and young adults while also working with the seniors too.

What makes the 14 league different to you?

Blessed to be a part of such a great and beautiful event that’s dedicated to the city of Boston, but more so Massachusetts. I love how versatile the event is from the dunk contest to all types of artists performing and to the youth events etc, with the variety of events going on nothing beats the unity we have in attendances, because there is something there for everyone to enjoy.
